Here’s a tip

Need to tip to avoid burning your arms and legs and feet?

When you’re using 4 crockpots on high, why not try checking to make sure your cords aren’t tangled before you scurry off with a pot full of simmering water, get it caught on another pot, jerk back, and splash it all over yourself? And if you’re too stupid to do that, why not keep the fucking lid on , so at least you minimize your injuries?

Ow.

This really, really hurts.

  1. Oh no! Hope you’re healing soon. I once spilled hot pudding (when you mix the boiling water with the powder) on my legs and I know it’s not pleasant.

  2. EVIL PUDDING! Hot pudding sounds very cruel indeed (plus: wasted pudding, a terrrible shame.)

It’s finally okay now. For the first hour, I had to ice it or run it under cool water or be whimpering. Then I put a bunch of burn ointment on it, took some tylenol and drank a few beers (a questionable course, considering I’ve still got lots of dyeing ahead of me tonight…). For the next hour, it felt like when you cut a jalapeno and then rub your eyes, only over my whole arm. But now it’s just like a sunburn.

  3. have you tried doing your dyeing in zipper bags in the dishwasher? shannon okey (knitgrrl.com) does it in a big pot in the dishwasher and runs it, but i do a bunch of bags and steam em in there, or put the bags in my big stock pot and steam. and i just got an electric roaster lately. also, i generally take the fiber out whilst still in the bag and let it cool on its own to avoid burns and felting.
