Thrifty Critter Pattern here. For this one, I used Merino Style and size US4 needles, making a somewhat smaller critter. I skipped the bug eyes & embroidered them on with scrap yarn. He might be my favorite yet!
Here’s how you make his hat and scarf:
WIZARD HAT
YARN: about 5-10g self-striping sock yarn
NEEDLES: US 3 or 4
CO 37.
8 rows in stockinette (knit RS, purl WS)
*K7, K2tog, repeat from * across row, K2
5 rows stockinette.
*K6, K2tog, repeat from * across row, K2
3 rows stockinette.
*K5, K2tog, repeat from * across row, K2
3 rows stockinette.
*K4, K2tog, repeat from * across row, K2
3 rows stockinette.
*K3, K2tog, repeat from * across row, K2
3 rows stockinette.
*K2, K2tog, repeat from * across row, K2
3 rows stockinette.
*K1, K2tog, repeat from * across row, K2
3 rows stockinette.
*K2tog, repeat from * across row
2 rows stockinette.
*K2tog, repeat from * across row
BO and seam side with mattress stitch.
SIDEWAYS SCARF
YARN: about 5-10g self-striping sock yarn
NEEDLES: US 3 or 4
CO 100 st.
Sl 1, K to end
Repeat 8-15 rows to desired scarf thickness, then BO loosely.
Add fringe to ends.
