Oh, Linen Stitch, I can’t say mad at you!

Thursday, January 6th, 2011

Every time I work something in linen stitch, I vow never again to use linen stitch. But I just love the fabric it makes, so I keep coming back for more abuse. I’m knitting with Quince & Co Lark, which is springy, and thus, easier on my hands. But still. It takes for EVER. But […]

FREE PATTERN: Karl’s Legwarmers

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

I disapprove of legwarmers as a general fashion accessory, but Karl (our resident who departed this morning) is a real live dancer/choreographer, so I was delighted to make him legwarmers. I went with a Flashdance palette in handspun merino: one ply Barbie pink, one ply black. The XOXO cable comes from Adrian Bizila’s Besotted Scarf. […]

Afterwards, I unravelled it from the collar down to the pits and reknit with more even shaping–basically decreased every 9th stitch every 4 rows, then did a couple rows of short-row shaping in the back under the collar to […]

Bunchy Munchie + New batts

Saturday, March 1st, 2008

So as I got ready to work the sleeves on my current sweater, I spread it out for a picture and discovered: Munchie’s bunchy. I thought maybe it would go away in the wearing, but no dice: But instead of my usual “frog now, ask questions later” tack, I decided to ask on the Zimmermania […]
